A driving force in the music industry, Marquita Cheron has an unwavering dedication to creative expression. With an undeniable passion for the clever blending of words and melodies (melodic phrasing), she grows further connected to it everyday. Starting at the intuitive age of 12, Marquita began imitating songs on The Little Mermaid, The Wiz and Cinderella. Always lured to her elementary school's music room, her 6th grade music teacher Ms. Linderman overheard her singing a Cinderella song while she helped clean up after class. That sparked an instant conviction from the teacher and she made it a priority to choose Marquita as one of the selected students to be cast in the National Broadway Musical: "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". After this incredible experience, Marquita's passion for music hugely expanded and it became her life’s journey. With an irreversible dedication, she has successfully aligned herself with musical expression from multiple angles:
As a Singer/Songwriter: She was an original member of The B.E.T. Urban Nation H.I.P. H.O.P. Choir. She completed her studies at "Duke Ellington School Of The Arts" with a focus in voice, where she was in the highly respected "All School Choir" and the world renowned: "Show Choir". She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Business/Management from the #1 Contemporary School Of Music: "Berklee College Of Music". She auditioned and made it straight through to the final season of the original: “SHOWTIME AT THE APOLLO". Marquita has also released her debut music project: "HAAHHMARK CARDS (THE LOVETAPE)" and followed that with her hit single: "EMOTIONS CAN INTERFERE".
As a Music Journalist: Marquita has successfully completed an internship in New York City at Cherry Lane Music Publishing Company (Now: BMG), in the department of Music Alive Magazine, where she worked directly with the Editor-In-Chief. She went on to become an intern turned freelancer as a "BlogSquad Correspondent” at Radio One's 93.9 WKYS for the "EZ STREET SHOW". Now, she is the Music Journalist for the independent media outlet: "Concert Daily", where she has covered many concerts, written many articles and interviewed several music artists such as: Faith Evans, Kirk Franklin, Angie Stone, Teddy Riley, Lalah Hathaway, Eric Benet`, Elle Varner, Adrian Marcel, Chante Moore, Raheem Davaughn and many more.
Working In Production: Marquita created, produced and directed her annual Singer's Showcase: "SOULFUNKDEFIED" for two years at "The ARC DC", as the venue's first musical productions. She has been able to be the vocal strategist for the hit stage plays: "P. Reynolds: Love Forgotten" and "Jay Cameron's: “Sexpose`". She was the stage manager for the Arts & Technology Academy's "Cinderella" production, and produced, choreographed and directed a music video as the Arts Integration Creative Arts Teacher called "Crank Dem 3's". She has produced and directed two music videos for her songs: "Exfactor Remake Me" and "Emotions Can Interfere" through her company "Suite 1419 Visions". She was the background vocal director for the 2019 stage play: "Waldy Street". Marquita worked as an Award's Coordinator for the 2017 "DC Titan Arts Awards". She has also worked within production for the 2019 “Urban One Honors”, the 2021 “Stellar Awards” and the 2022 “Black Music Honors”.
